Synopsis

Empress Wu is an original musical based on the life, loves and times of China's first and only female emperor, who had ruled the country with an iron fist more than a thousand years ago. Tang China during her reign was the richest and most powerful country in the world. It was China’s golden age and the Empress held together a sprawling empire against external threats and internal court intrigues. Not unlike the other emperors, Empress Wu's ascent to power was littered with acts of betrayal and treachery but also of honour and loyalty. A controversial figure condemned and praised by historians in equal measures, the Empress enjoyed supreme power. She was ambitious and ruthless. A visionary, an autocrat and ultimately, the symbol of female defiance in Confucian China.

Purpose:

Persatuan Ananda Marga Yoga Kuala Lumpur is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting a healthy balanced lifestyle through mind, body and soul. Accordingly we are planning to create a “Wholistic Lifestyle Centre” in the beautiful hills surrounding Bentong, Pahang.  This centre will be designed according to the principles of ecological sustainability and maintaining harmony with nature so that it becomes a model wholistic educational centre for all to enjoy and grow. We invite you to join us in this exciting endeavor to make this dream come true. We are hosting “Empress Wu – The Musical” as a fund raising event for our “Wholistic Lifestyle Centre”.

    本瑜伽团体(ANANDA MARGA YOGA)是个非营利团体，宗旨为自我了悟，服务人群。不分种族、宗教,遍布全世界。提供大众身心灵成长，如开设瑜伽课、指导瑜伽哲学、免费教授静坐、社会服务、救难工作等。

    本团体藉著此义演，欲购置一块土地，作为有机生态模范村。设备包括修行道场、自然疗法、有机农耕及休闲中心等。希望善心人士慷慨解囊，让早日完成这个计划。
